Daisy Speaks...
15th Oct 2018
We were very fortunate to have Daisy Lavea-Timo spend time with us during the school holidays. Daisy is the current NZ Slam Poetry Champion and an exciting facilitator who helped some of our youth to create Spoken Word items, improve their MC skills and ultimately put together a great showcase of Kaikōura talent on Saturday night.
Official pictures were taken and will be uploaded soon - however you'll get the vibe from the photos here now.
Term 4 Community Education Programme
28th Sep 2018
Our Term 4 Community Education Programme is heading off to mailboxes around Kaikōura over the weekend.
We have a mixture of opportunities available - support with learner, restricted and full licences, cyanotype printing, xmas sewing, smartphone/tablet use and more.
This is our first attempt at putting together a planned term of educational opportunities and we hope we have a great uptake and feedback about what our community wants to have in the future. We are also really keen to hear from people with skills to share!
You can access a pdf version here

Wildflower planting
13th Sep 2018
Kaikōura Youth Council planted wildflower seeds outside Te Hā yesterday with seeds donated by Apiculture New Zealand. This was a nice mix of celebrating Bee Awareness month, the Love the Lyell Clean up day and Keep NZ Beautiful clean up week.
Kaikōura District Council staff Kate, Bridget and Tracy brought the seeds down and enjoyed watching Jade and Ashley plant the seeds that should make a wonderful summer display and hopefully attract bees!
Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori
13th Sep 2018
For Te wiki o Te Reo Māori the Youth Council organised to go into the High School with colourful balloons and were asking the students to tell them all 6 colours in Te Reo. Those who successfully said all the colours were given a chocolate bar. It was great to see everyone including teachers giving this a go, and for those who weren't too sure there was always someone there willing to help them through. Te wiki o Te Reo Māori has been a great success for 2018.
