Youth Week 2018
21st May 2018
'Be who you want to be'. The Youth Council were very busy throughout Youth Week and had many activities planned for the students at the High School. On Monday a handprint mural was created, this is to represent all the students coming together and committing to be their best selves and supporting and encouraging their peers to be there best selves also. On Tuesday it was a mirror day. Mirrors were taken around the High School and students were asked to look at their reflection and write something positive about themselves. On Thursday, we were fortunate enough to have the 2 new police in town come into the High School and battle the students in games of giant jenga and connect 4. This saw great competition and involvement by all. It was an awesome chance for the students and the Police to connect in a fun and casual setting. The fun, laughter, and competition continued throughout the whole of lunch.
During the week it was great to see so many students getting involved in different ways with all the activities that had been organised.
Pink Shirt Day
18th May 2018
Speak Up, Stand Together, Stop Bullying: On Pink Shirt Day the Youth Council facilitated a game of multi-sport at the High School, organised an anti-bullying pledge to be signed by those at the High School to commit to not bullying and to do something about bullying when they see it. The Youth Council also had pink t-shirts to be given out to students who were able to share with others about how they are going to stand up to bullying. There was great engagement by all, and the school was filled with pink!

Community Gardens and Community Shed are amping up!
15th Mar 2018
Our Community Garden is taking shape... weekly working bees on Wednesdays at 5.30pm have resulted in the 'glasshouse' teepee standing proud; garden beds filled with baleage, seaweed, lime and waiting for topsoil... planting is getting closer and closer! Come and see, join in, meet others and learn some new skills. The Kaikoura Star had a good wee article this week here
We have the Community Shed open Wednesday and Thursday now! From around 9am to 3pm, sometimes finishing a little earlier - a great spot to come and work on projects, get some help to 'fix stuff', meet others and learn new skills. We have Pete Fey here every Wednesday and Darryl is here on Thursdays to help you out.
